Trinity men's club Lacrosse continued their winning streak on Saturday with two home wins in a roll, defeating San Antonio College 14 to 1 and Texas A&M Corps of Cadets 13 to 1.

The team crushed both opponents on Saturday and it is clear that they are a big fish in a small pond. Their record now stands at 3 to 0.

“There are a lot of guys on the team who have played before, so we have a lot of developed talent that these other teams simply don’t have,” said senior Austin Phillippe, who plays midfield.

With such dominance in their games, the team is ready to upgrade from a club level to a varsity level and level out the playing field. Most members of the team look forward to playing more challenging teams.

Ben Mulford, a junior majoring in Chinese and Political Science, started the team in June after he approached Caroline Keener, the head of club sports at Trinity University. Currently, the team has 27 members with Ben Mulford, Stephen Chang, and Eli Rudolph as captains.

“We have found a really good mix of guys who had played other sports at Trinity, who now are trying playing something new. It’s tough to play and coach sometimes, but it is so much fun and I wouldn’t trade it,” said Mulford.

Mulford was confident that his team could move up to the varsity level in the near future, knowing that talented lacrosse players attended Trinity. “Build it and they will come,” he said, hoping “we can get the lacrosse team elevated to a full NCAA varsity program like football, soccer, etc. That’s what we all want.”

Mulford’s ambition resonates well with his teammates. “We want to become recognized in the coming years and be able to recruit talent to make a historic program,” said Phillippe.

On Saturday, the team was supported by a big crowd, including the Chi Beta Epsilon Sorority that made signs and cheered the team on. “The fan support has been fantastic. We really feel like Trinity is behind us,” Mulford said.

  1. I'm interested in reserving this beautiful place. Placing a music show which does not have cultural preferences becomes difficult in a banquet hall environment. It requires planning and decorating imagination. The Los Angeles event venues have the right décor for any event.
