On Monday, the Trinitones and the AcaBellas, the male and female acapella groups at Trinity, ended this school year with a joint performance in Skyline.
The groups took turns performing their favorite pieces from the semester, including “Come On Eileen” performed by the Trinitones and "Electric Love" performed by the AcaBellas.
Members of the groups and the audience shed tears as the groups performed songs dedicated to the seniors. The AcaBellas performed a sweet version of “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana to say farewell to the seniors. The performance ended with a joint performance of “Take On Me” by a-ha.
These two groups are well known by the student body from their on campus performances. Every Friday, one of the groups sings for Happy Friday at 12:22 pm in Coates. Students can stop by to listen to some catchy tunes as they go to class.
The Trinitones and the AcaBellas also performed at on campus events this year such as Trinity Idol and Spotlight. The crowd loved the two groups as they sang a Guardians of the Galaxy medley and an ABBA medley respectively at Spotlight. Off campus, they have performed at holiday parties and weddings.

Krista Kannen, a senior biology major, talked about the dynamic of the group when it comes to arranging songs. “There are a lot of creative people in the group, and several of them have tried their hand at arranging. Usually whoever has the greatest connection to the song or wants to do it the most will be the one who arranges it.”
Shane Bono, a junior business analytics and technologies major, believes the best part of being in the group is “seeing the progression of learning a new song, going from hysterically laughing at how horrible our first attempt is to a beautifully meshed final product.”
Kannen values the friendships she has formed in the AcaBellas. “Those relationships are invaluable to me now, they've gotten me through some of my roughest moments.”
It is easy to see the friendship between the members of the Trinitones and the AcaBellas while they perform. Everyone looks like they are having a great time and doing something they love.
